-
- GENERAL NOTES - RELEASE 3.0
-
- The key features of Indeo(TM) Video Technology release 3.0 are:
-
- * Video playback is two times faster than in release 2.11.
-
- * Picture quality and color reproduction are dramatically improved.
-
- * Files created by earlier versions of Indeo Video Technology can be
- played back using release 3.0.
-
- * The new compression algorithm lets you control the quality or data
- rate of the captured video, giving you more control over the
- appearance of the resulting video file.
-
- * There is built in support for PAL video.
-
- * A new video image size, 240x180, is available. You can capture
- video in this new size at frame rates of up to 15fps.
-
- KNOWN OPERATING CHARACTERISTICS OF INDEO(TM) VIDEO TECHNOLOGY RELEASE 3.0
-
- The known operating characteristics of Indeo Video Technology release
- 3.0 are listed below.
-
- * Frames are dropped when capturing 320x240 or 240x180 images at
- frame rates greater than 15fps.
-
- * In systems with disk drives that have a transfer rate of less than
- 1.4 Mbytes/sec, the Intel Smart Video Recorder may randomly drop
- frames.
-
- * The current Intel Smart Video Recorder capture driver and software
- encoder support only Key Frames. Therefore, regardless of the key
- frame interval setting, only key frames will be captured.
-
- * The overlay option in VidCap is not supported.
-
- * If audio playback is out of synch with the video, try:
-
- * playing video from Media Player and configuring playback [select
- Device/Configure...] to "skip video frames if behind",
-
- * removing any TSRs (Terminate Stay Resident programs).
-
- * VidEdit does not allow you to create a file with an image
- resolution greater than 320x240.
-
- * Data rates less than 300KB may not be achieved with a Quality
- setting of 100%. To achieve lower data rates, lower the Quality
- setting. A quality setting of 80% offers a good trade-off.
-
- * Data rates of 150KB cannot be achieved. This problem will be
- resolved when the "super compressor" becomes available.
-
- * If you have an ATI Mach 32 graphics board you may need to set the
- "Device Bitmaps" to OFF to utilize the correct palette.
